Safiya Merchant

Originally from Chicago, Safiya Merchant has been living in Michigan since 2015 and now resides in Detroit, where she works in affordable housing and homelessness policy. She previously worked in higher education communications and as a newspaper reporter. She is a graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Michigan's Ford School of Public Policy. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the outdoors and writing poetry.
