Share your stories and help us to celebrate the rich history, culture, and spirit that defines this area as one of the most vibrant and diverse in the entire City of Detroit.
Look for our Sounds & Sessions sign at special events and gathering spots throughout southwest Detroit and let us record your story about this great community. Join any of our Sessions workshops to learn from experts who will coach you on how to organize and develop engaging stories and present them with confidence and impact. Attend a Listening Party to hear what people have to say. You might even learn something new about the neighborhood!

Matrix Theatre wants to hear from you! Share a special memory about soutwest Detroit. Call 734.707.9276 (our engineer) and leave your thoughts in a two-minute message. These thoughts will be shared in special Listening Parties highlighted interviews with many southwest Detroit residents.

Until we can offer safe group gatherings for writing workshops, we are offering you FREE one on one coaching from our expert coaching staff!
What: Work with a coach to choose, develop, write, and even present your story.

Who: All interested persons!

When: You and your coach will schedule dates and times (ranging from 30-60 minutes a session).
​
Where: Sessions will be conducted virtually through Zoom or a preferred platform.

Sounds Listening Parties

What: Curated listening parties about southwest Detroit with a mix of live and recorded stories, from YOU!
​
Who: Everyone interested in hearing stories.
​
Where: Venues will include Matrix Theatre and other SW Detroit locations. As stories are being gathered, you'll be able to listen here, on our website.

When: Ongoing - Now through December 2020!
